Need Boot Disk Creator 3.0

I need a solution

My Company has several Symantec licenses and support agreements.

We have an older version of Ghost Solutions Suite and in reading their support tech article 223404 they pretty much point you to support to get the new Boot Disk Creator 3.0. Older tech articles loop you around to that one and do not give much for older versions.

I need to get the download for Boot Disk Creator 3.0 please. Pretty simple request and no other info or support needed on this if I can get somebody from tech support to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Russ

I need a solution

Hi all,

I have some old .gho images which I have used with a boot disc but now moving onto using Ghost Console.

I need a solution

I want to add files to my bootable DVD I made using Bootwiz Disk Creator 3.0.

I don't want the files I add to be part of the boot.wim file.  I want to use the basic boot x64 WinPE standalone boot disk and add my ghost files separate.

When I use bootwiz to add files they become part of the boot.wim file and it's will not work.

Cloning Hyper-V VM.

I need a solution

Hi,

We have some servers running hyper-v however the previous administrator took wayyy too many snapshots on the hyper-v and i do not know if some of them might be corrupted.
We are also trying to migrate it to a failover cluster but there's just too many AVHD files to merge.

the virtual machine is still running, worst in production.(so it hasn't been shutdown for years for the AVHD to merge)

i thought of a solution which is to clone out the VM.. probably faster than waiting for the snapshots to merge or maually trying to find and merge the VHD with snapshots...

Recreate the virutal machine(a new VHD) on the failover cluster manager and restore back to the new VM .

The question are these.

Will ghost 11.5 be able to clone VM running in hyper-v hypervisor?
Will ghosts 11.5 be able and restore the cloned VM back into the hyper-v hypervisor?

Note:
Server is running windows server 2008R2
Services : IIS , MS SQL.

We will be able to shutdown the server for cloning

Time is crucial as server is in production.

Ghost32 v11.5 error al chequear integridad si hay carpetas con espacios en blanco

I need a solution

Comando = "ghost32.exe -batch -chkimg,"& lstFoundFiles.List(n)

Mi programa devuelve el error:

ABORT: 19010, Arguments must be preceeded with a '-' or a '/'

La ruta real del archivo a comprobar es: H:\Ghost\Folder 3\IMOK4.GHO, existe un espacio en blanco entre folder y 3.

Si pongo directamente:

Comando = "ghost32.exe -batch -chkimg,"& "H:\Ghost\Folder 3\IMOK4.GHO"

Saludos

Support for Creating Wyse Images

I need a solution

Will the new GSS 3.0 provide support for imaging the Dell Wyse thin clients. Currently we are experiencing issues as the first primary partition is the partition that Wyse requires for the FBWF and it is linux. Upon trying to create an image, the device fails to restart as the grub loses it kernel.

HPZ230 Ghosting

I need a solution

I understand there are alot of questions and answers out there on this. I am currently trying to restore an image that I had already created on a HPZ230 machine. I PXE boot most of my machines as its easier than trying to get a cd into the drive and having to load off an external usually. Everything goes smooth until the image that is being restored errors out at about 25% of the way in. It appears as though its attempting to load the MBR on a GPT. I understand i can probably turn it off but being i already have an image i would much rather not spend another 2 hours preparing an image that works fine. I also use a utility called mbautil or 3com used for creating boot images. My issue is that i can not for the life of me remember what the commands are to load himem.sys into upper memory to allow for this image to work( In the config.sys file). I have the correct pathway for himem.sys as it works fine with other non GPT partitions, i also have the correct machine number and cpuclock is set to on. Any help on this would be great, I realize that the program im asking about doesn't have much to do with support for ghost but I'm sure someones run into the same issue.

BTW I'm sure everyone would like an error code, which should be 10008 unexpected end of file

Thanks!

I dont know how to install Intel I217-LM drivers

Using Symantec 2.5.1 Suite to clone Windows 8.1 on Thinkpad T440S

I need a solution

To anyone,

I wanted to clone a Windows 8.1 Thinkpad T440S using Symantec Ghost suite 2.5.1 from one hard drive to and bigger HD on the same laptop.
I created a PC-DOS USB through the Symantec Ghost Boot wizard, Standard Ghost Boot Package.

I was able to upload the ghost image to my Ghost server, using Symantec GhostCast Server on Create Image, command line on the Ghost Cast server -ib

On the menu I did a Ghost cast-unicast

The thinkpad T440S connect to my GhostCast server.

I selected the Drive 2 Local on the Select local source drive by clicking on the drive number.

the ghost image uploaded fine.

Now when I restore the image back to a another HD on the Thinkpad T440S it goes into a loop on Windows 8.1 Pro repair mode.

What did I do wrong? This way works for Windows 7 Pro on a Thinkpad T440S

Ghost Image from Raided Disks

I need a solution

Hi,

I am an intern working at a company and I am trying to figure out how to create an image, using Ghost, of a server with RAID 1 disks. I need to be able to create this image with RAID enabled and the RAID volume built but I cannot see the volume when RAID is enabled. How can I do this and specifically what drivers are needed to accomplish this.

My end goal is to be able to image a server and not have to rebuild or go through migration to copy contents of one disk to the other.

Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 destination drive will be overwritten

I need a solution

I have created a Boot CD & have booted to it.

I simply want to create a clone of the HDD so if it fails I can restore it either to another HDD or a VM.

But when I go select, Local > Disk > To Image, I select where I want to back the clone image to (an external HDD), but on the very last stage, it says that the destination drive will be overwritten.  Will this erase everything on my external HDD?

Thanks

Ghost 3.0 Beta Questions

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

Thank you for the show yesterday.  I look forward to this coming out.

I have a couple of questions that were not addressed yesterday (or in the other thread before it was locked)

1) I know you said the images are backwards compatible.  However.  With GSS 3.0 being Altiris 6.9, do the 3.0 endpoints need a new client, or will the GSS 2.5.1 client phone home to the GSS 3.0 console?

2) Will more than 1 person be able to use the same GSS 3.0 console at the same time?  I know this is not currently doable in 2.5.

Thanks!

GSS 3.0 Questions

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

We are a small college with about 1,500 computers. We have probably 50 different images with a lot of older software that can not be managed well with Altiris. Also we use Ghost to back up all employee computers before re-imaging or delivering a new computer. We keep these images for at least 12 months and in certain cases much longer due to the nature of the information on some drives. GSS 2.5.1 provided an excellent means of managing all of our images. The ability to manually define the image resources within the console and store the images in an easy to fnid location and folder structure greatly helped us when we needed to recover data from an archive image. We tried using Altiris 7.1 and 7.5 but found the way the images were stored made it very difficult to locate the exact backup image we were looking for. As well when creating a hardware independent image the wait time to replicate to the deployment server often bit us in the rear during crunch time. Which is the 3 times a year we re-image every lab and lecture computer on campus. During these times we only have 1 week to complete the process on about 1000 computers so waiting is not an option. We also ran into a problem with the images constantly being checked because they were reporting 0kb size which Symantec Tech support was never able to figure out. I apologize for the long explanation but I wanted to provide some background for my question.

I watched the webcast and saw the Ghost Console but did not see the resources section I am familiar with in GSS 2.5.1. How does GSS 3.0 store the images? Does it use an easy and intuitive way that makes it easy to find where a specific image is stored? or does it use the random GUID folder names from Altiris which makes me feel like I am playing hide and seek with my images?

I am not talking about the SymBeta website where you sign up for the Beta. David Evans said there was a section on the forums dedicated to the Ghost 3.0 Beta. Where is that?

Does the approval process for the GSS 3 beta take a few days?

I applied right after the webcast yesterday and haven't heard back. It's only been a day but I'm chomping at the bit the try this out and hopefully get our licenses renewed.

Thanks,
