Symantec Ghost 115.0.2266 Error finding Drivers when imaging

I need a solution

Hello,

We are having issues with our new Symantec Ghost Console image installation process. I'm not sure if I've missed something during the setup, but the job is failing on the last step of the imaging process. I've gone through the tutorial serveral times, but not sure if there is a known issue or solution for the below error. If anyone out there can help me with this, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can't deploy new image from windows 8

I need a solution

Hi

i recently added windows 8 to ghost console  , till now i had windows 7 (32) / (64)

when trying to deploy windows 8 when  win 7 is on the machine  the win 8 will be deployed

but the process in the server will end with an error  " Details for:config refresh , configuration unavailable"

this is not serious because the Win 8 works fine after the task finished ( even with the error )

The  problem is when win 8 is already on the machine,  the ghost console will not be able to deploy any images anymore

the error : "Details for : virtual partition , failed to update unatebed.xml file"

I think i disabled all security such as :  UAC,  and changed registry keys : " EnableUIADesktopToggle " , " EnableLUA "

anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks

Ghost Cast Server 11.5.1.2266

I need a solution
Hi,

I have a sys-prepped Win 7 x64 ghost image that I can push out to machines at work. I deploy the image to the computer(s) using Ghost Cast Server 11.5.1.2266.

We had some new HP machines arrive today, the model number of which is HP Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF. The PC's will boot from the ghost boot disk but they remain stuck with the IP address 127.0.0.1. This in turn means that they are unable to detect/connect to my multicast server to pull down the sys-prepped image.

I figured this must be due to ghost not having the driver for the NIC in the HP 800 G1. So I downloaded the necessary Win 7 x64 driver(s) and created a new ghost boot disk with the new driver added, however despite the addition of the new driver the PC remains stuck with the IP address 127.0.0.1 despite several reboots. The NIC that the PC's contain is the following  - Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM

Where am I going wrong?

Uninstalling clients that don't exist anymore

I need a solution

Hi.

So right now, I'm working on clearing out a bunch of clients from my Symantec Ghost Console since there are a bunch of clients that aren't even used anymoreand I've been getting warnings that I'm running out of licenses. However, a lot of these clients don't even exist anymore.

Is there any way I can remove those clients from the Ghost Console so I can free up some licenses for new machines coming in?

Blue screen after image push

I need a solution

I have been running into some issues lately while pushing an image to a few of my lab computers. Recently I created a fresh installation of windows with all my labs required software and profile configurations. I sysprepped the machine created a disk image and then pushed the image to a different machine. The image pushes successfully and windows successfully starts its initial bootup process. However after the first restart while the computer is booting it halts with a blue screen error 0x000007e. The sysprep file I am using is the same I have used for images in the past, and the process is unchanged in how I take an image and push them. I did notice something different, when it is pushing the image ghost logs an error and lists some other information in the startnet.cmd window. The error file is ghserr.txt or some other file name. I have not beeen able to verify what it is exactly cause it scrolls rather quickly before it reboots after pushing an image. It does however list windows as being d:\windows instead of c:\windows. Is there an issue with how I am taking the ghost image? I use a standalone ghostcast session to take the image and when testing the image i also push it using a standalone session.

I am rather stumped as this problem has apparently only happened once in the last 5 years when the school of engineering first started pushing windows 7 images. Where is this ghost error file logged and stored? And in my sysprep persistdeviceinstalls is set to false.

Maybe I made a simple mistake that someone will quickly pointout. Thanks in advance,

-Jeramie

Trial License for large Environments

I need a solution

Hello,

we are currently testing Symantec Ghost Solutions using the standard trial license supporting 10 clients. This far, Ghost Solutions seems like a very capable solution to our requirement of deploying large amounts of system images as fast as possible, including system configuration.

As we have the need to deploy images to about 100 or more clients at the same time in less than one hour it is very interesting for us how the application perfoms in such large environments. Is it possible to get a trial license to peform tests for performance and stability in such environments (100 clients) as we are not able to buy a solution without knowing it will work in our environment for sure?

I tried adding the drivers in the WinPE-512 environment in the boot wizard but I receive an error.  However, I can use "drvload" to load the drivers in the winpe environment, which occurs without any errors, however I still see the above error.

It can't (shouldn't) be this difficult

I need a solution

I have used version 8.0 of Ghost Console (on Server 2003) in a workgroup for a few years and even though I'm no expert, I have managed to work with it to push images to computers in a student lab that are members of the same workgroup.

Now I'm checking out the trial version of GSS 2.5 running Ghost Console version 11.5.1.226.  I'm trying it out on a Server 2008 R2 system that is also an AD domain controller.

After figuring out the proper PreOS option, I was able to pull an image (implementing Sysprep) from a test computer running Windows 7 Pro.  The problem I'm having now is pushing the image back to the same test computer.  I want to be able to have Ghost Console move it from a Workgroup member to a AD domain member.  But I keep getting an error about "unknown username or bad password" when the process is finished.  When I go to the test unit, it is still a workgroup member and Windows has been deactivated indicating I have 3 days to provide a product key.  I'm using a volume licensed copy and the information was entered into Sysprep.  Why is the OS now deactivated?

The odd thing is, that when I go to the AD domain controller, the client computer is shown in the Computers container.  Even though it was not present before.  Another weird thing that happened is the client computer had none of the active accounts from the image.  Is this something that has to do with Sysprep?  I had to boot it into Safe Mode to enable the admin account.  Don't ask me how I was able to boot into safe mode with a disabled account though.

I've scoured the internet for a solution and have yet to find one.  Several posts mention that often the problem has to do with DNS or some security issue but give no more information.  I've given the Ghost account full control of the Computer container in AD.  Based on another post, I looked into some NT4 cryptography thing and enabled that policy.  Neither of which resolved the problem.

It seems to me that this is a common problem among people trying to use Server 2008 R2.  If it can't be resolved, wouldn't Symantec put out some kind of paper indicating that?

Here's a section of the Console Log Report.

I have a Server 2008 R2 system that is both an AD domain controller and serving as a Ghost server.  I'm trying a trial version of GSS 2.5 using Ghost Console 11.5.1.226.  I've been able to pull an image from a Windows 7 Pro test computer (incorporating Sysprep) that is a workgroup member.  Now I trying to push the image back to the same test computer and add it to the domain but I keep getting the error in the log.  I gave the Ghost account full control of the Computer container in AD but that did nothing.  I read something on another post about some NT4 cryptography policy that I enabled thinking it would help.  It didn't.

Even though the Image Restore task completed, I saw that the test client was shown in the Computer container in AD even though it was not previously present.  However, when I looked at the client, it booted with no active user accounts.  The Windows 7 logon prompt was blank.  No accounts I tried would work.  When I booted into Safe Mode, I was presented with an Administrator account.  But it was not the built-in one.  That one was disabled.  I'm stumped as to how this happened.  Is this something related to Sysprep?  I enabled the account again and logged on in Normal Mode.  Looking at the Properties showed the computer was still a Workgroup member.

I've scoured the internet and forums looking for a solution but have yet to find one.  I've read that this problem is usually related to some DNS or security setting but no details beyond that are given.

I'm planning on upgrading a student lab with 25 systems and I need to get this working within the next few weeks.  The plan is to just do the basic set up of the lab clients and push the image out to them.  Each client needs to retain its static IP address and unique computer name plus get added to the domain.  The properties of each client prior to the Restore will show that it is a Workgroup member.  But it needs to change to reflect to show that they have joined the domain.  I don't know if this is done through a Configuration task or not.

Can anyone provide any help?

Error: Client timed out.

I need a solution

I recently purchased Symantec Ghost for backing up 5 servers in my company. Installed software in the console server which acts as a Backup for these servers and through network I installed client console software to these 5 servers. But when I started to backup or create Image Task for one server it always fails at "Creating Virtual Partition" Error - Client Timed Out. I added drivers for the NIC cards and tried again still the same error displays.

I really want this issue to sorted out as quickly as possible my company depending on this software for backup.

Anticipating early response.

I need a solution

After having issues with WinPE v2 and ghost32.exe (ghost GUI would flash and close trying to launch ghost32.exe), I built a WinPE v4 boot package and booted with UEFI and launched ghost64.exe (patched version).  However, I am receiving an internal inconsistency error message:

I need a solution

Re-Posted this in right place, hope someone can help :)

Afternoon All

Tried searching to forums but to no avail with this one, should be a nice easy one im sure. I have downloaded the GSS 2.5 trial from symantec (used to use in a prvious role and loved it). Downloaded and installed ok but I cannot find the setup files for the PXE boot 3com / tftp bits I need. They dont seem to come down with the GSS trial (as its one big exe).

Tried contacting support but there answer was "you dont have a support contract" .. thats right, because I would like to trial it first !

Thoughts ?

Ghost MultiCast crashes at 1% while trying to ghost Win 8, on Dell 9020 AIO

I need a solution

I finally am able to boot my Dell 9020 and was able to image a Win 8.1 image up to our server. The problem I'm having now is when I attempt to Multicast to them (Dell 9020) it goes through the launch sequence (pc-dos, connects to server, GUI pops up) but when it begins to push the image it crashes and goes back to the pc-dos screen.

I've tried several Win 8 images. It will work with windows 7 but not not 8 or 8.1. I know it's not the image because I'm able to ghost the same image onto our older Lenovo's. I've changed the setting in the BIOS from RAID to ATA and even tried SATA, but no joy. It will ghost the same image using the USB I created both up and down, so I'm stuck.

I just sucessfully reimaged 3 machines by using the boot USB and running a Multi Cast session from the pc, but it still crashes when I try to push from the Ghost console. I have over 500 computers on different floors and don't want to have to touch each one in order to ghost them.

Any direction would be appreciated.

Thank you

I need a solution

Hi Guy,

I just bought Symantec Ghost Solution Suite. I need help setting up the model computer and then deploying that image to the workstations.

I have a mini-computer lab of 10 computers- a mix of HP DC5700 and HP DC5800

I also have a few classrooms with a total of 20 computer - and the same mix of HP computers

I would like the image to me the same (standard) image on all the computers.

If anyone could help by attaching links, step by step guides, manuals, etc.

Please email me at s1mayernik@outlook.com or Write back on this forum.

Thank You

Multicast Session not starting all clients

I need a solution

Hello,

I am currently testing Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1 on a windows server 2008 r2 with 40 clients, everything connected directly to one isolated cisco switch.

I got multicasting up and running, but still encounter a small problem: most of the times when I start a multicast task only 32 clients connect. And it is always exactly 32. After cancelling and restarting the task two or three times finally the rest of the clients connect, too and the multicast works quite good.

Do you have any information regarding such a behaviour or any idea where this problem could come from?

Thank you very much.

I need a solution

HI all,

A couple of years ago, someone asked this very same question here (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/con...) but there was no solution posted. We still use Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1 as I still think this is by far the best software I have used for cloning, yet is this simply a case where the lack of any further updates mean that the software is incapable of reading a newer VDMK virtual HDD?

If possible, help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

I need a solution

I been reading a lot of old threads about a release for late 2013 as, were way pass this time frame I wanted to know if we be getting a release for 2014? As it been helping doing a lot of work for my work it harder to do things as the networks are not up to date. I inject the drivers nics into the software I have problems sometims and just like to know when there be an update coming to the software for the new stuff or any rumors or 411 would be great.
