Not a great title I know, but there are so many issues with GSS3.1 I don't really know where to start.
Our need for the product is to do repeated reinstallations of a limited number of images to a number of identical computers - end up with a room or rooms full of machines with an identical build, but of course, unique machine names and SIDs. Used to do this with no trouble on GSS2.5.1.....an effortless and rapid task.
Having finally(!) got a working install of the server and console after tripping over every single 'feature' of the new installer I got to the stage of actually managing to image a machine - hoorah.
Next step was to delpoy this image to another machine. This is where I fnid that I have no choice but to use Sysprep. Hateful & slow and very much a retrograde step as far as I am concerned.
So, while messing with sysprep and starting to make some inroads, I now find the the Remote Agent Installer has decided to play up. Nothing has knowingly been changed on the system other than applying the latest Windows updates this morning, but now, there is a wait of some minutes after pressing the 'ADD' button on the 'selecting clients' dialogue before control returns and I can type in a machine name. Assuming I wait long enough, I can then enter the machine name and the install does eventually work.
Fair to say I truly loath this version of GSS. I wish I could stick with 2.5.1.......
